Introduction to fruit vinegars

Vinegar contains about 5-10% of acetic acid, water and various other nutraceuticals. Acetic acid in vinegar is produced by fermentation of ethanol by bacteria(acetobacter). Vinegar is most commonly used in cooking, salads & in pickling.
Vinegar is also used in production of mayonnaise, mustard sauce, ketchup etc.
Fruit vinegars are generally produced by oxidization of fruit wines. The common flavors are apple, raspberry, Indian blackberry(Jamun), blackcurrant, tomato, fruits & herbs. The flavors & of the fruit & its nutritional value remains intact in the final product, adding health benefits.

Everyday uses for cider vinegar

Care for your hair
Vinegar can be a good option to rinse your hair after shampooing, to nourish your hair & give them lustrous shine & bounce & also as an anti dandruff treatment. Half tbsp. of vinegar mixed with one cup of water can be used for rinsing your hair after shampooing. It is also a good alternative to chemical shampoos as home made hair shampoo. For good results combine baking powder 1 tbsp. with 2 tbsp. vinegar & apply on the scalp. Rinse after 15 min. to get good results.

Tooth cleaning & disinfectant
Apple cider vinegar is very good tooth cleanser. You can rub apple cider vinegar on your teeth for about 1 minute with your finger & it will leave your teeth clean, free of stains & shining bright. Using apple cider vinegar on your teeth for several days can also help tocontrol build-up of bacteria in the mouth & can laso help fight tooth decay.

Use as an aftershave
Apple cider vinegar is a very good disinfectant & also has anti-bacterial properties. Apple cider vinegar can also be used as an aftershave & disinfectant for healing cuts & bruises while shaving or for any other injury like papercuts, knife cuts, etc. It can be used as a good alternative for alcoholic disinfectants like clinical spirits.

Repelling mites & fleas in pets
1:1 ratio of vinegar & water can be sprayed & rubbed on your pet's fur to treat infestation of any harmful parasitic mites or fleas. Ticks, mites & fleas generally multiply underneath the fur layer of your pet's body & often remain unnoticed & keep on inflicting damage on your pet's health. Vinegar's repellant properties helps clear parasitic infestation from your pet's body & help it remain clean & healthy.

Neutralizes odor
Cider vinegar can sometimes be used to neutralize bad odor from your home. If there is some bad odor in your home which is just not going away, you can pour some vinegar in a bowl or dish & keep it near the place where bad odor is originating from, vinegar will neutralize it & will help you keep your home's environment fresh & free of any odor.
